GitHub Settings Repo Copy

Copy repository owner/name text from GitHub confirmation dialogs with access limited to GitHub pages and no collection or storage of repository data.

This small extension makes the owner/repo text in GitHub repository-confirmation dialogs selectable and copyable. It runs on GitHub repository pages only and does not send or retain repository data.

Use it

  1. Open a GitHub repository page and start the settings action that shows a repository confirmation dialog.
  2. Select or copy the owner/repo text from the dialog using the normal browser interaction.

The extension is intentionally limited to this workflow; it does not add a toolbar popup or collect repository information.

Download the latest release

The download links always redirect to the latest stable release for this extension.

Install a local build

  1. Clone the source repository and run bun install.
  2. Run bun run prepare:wxt from the repository root.
  3. Run bun run --filter github-settings-repo-copy build.
  4. Load apps/github-settings-repo-copy/.output/chrome-mv3 from chrome://extensions with Developer mode enabled, or select apps/github-settings-repo-copy/.output/firefox-mv3/manifest.json through about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox.

Permissions and privacy

The extension requests clipboardWrite and access to https://github.com/* for its copy action on repository pages. It does not send or store repository data. Firefox’s manifest declares no data collection.

Troubleshooting

  • No dialog behavior: check that the current page is a GitHub repository page and that the confirmation dialog is open.
  • Install fails: choose the browser-specific output directory and select its manifest.json.

See the extension source.
